# Requirements and compatibility

Requirements and compatibility notes for using Elite Bundle Builder with Shopify stores and Online Store 2.0 themes.

## Requirements

* A Shopify store with admin access and permission to install apps
* Permission to edit the live theme (to enable the app embed)
* An Online Store 2.0 theme, which is any theme that supports app embeds
* Products or collections ready to bundle

## Compatibility

| Area                       | How it works                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          |
| -------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Themes | Renders through the **Elite Embed Core** app embed. Works with any Online Store 2.0 theme; no theme code is edited. |
| Devices | Bundle pages work on desktop, tablet and mobile. Preview at mobile width before launch. |
| Checkout | Discounts apply automatically at checkout through a Shopify Function. Works with Shopify checkout and, with the [checkout compatibility setting](/get-started/settings.md#checkout-compatibility), third-party checkouts. |
| Cart and orders | The cart shows one bundle line with the picked items listed under a Show/Hide toggle, and a free gift as its own line at $0; the order carries the real SKUs; inventory is tracked on the real products. Side-cart apps and 3PLs keep working. A bundle bought on a subscription is the exception: its items are separate cart lines, because Shopify does not merge lines that carry a selling plan. |
| Subscription apps | Any app that sells through Shopify selling plans, such as Recharge, Appstle, Seal, Loop, Skio or Shopify Subscriptions. Every product in a bundle must be in one plan in that app; the bundle connects that plan in **Config → Subscriptions**. Build-your-own and multi-option bundles only. See [Subscriptions](/create-bundles/subscriptions.md). |
| Inventory | Out-of-stock products or variants are shown as sold out and cannot be bought. In a multi-option bundle, if every choice in a required option is unavailable, the whole bundle is unavailable until stock returns or the option is changed. |
| Metafields in product data | Text, number, date, URL and colour product metafields, and lists of these. Their definition needs **Storefront access** turned on. See [Product data](/customize-and-publish/product-data.md). |

{% hint style="warning" %}
After switching or publishing a new theme, confirm **Elite Embed Core** is enabled on the new live theme. App embeds are per theme.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.elitebundleapp.com/get-started/requirements-and-compatibility.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
