# Fixed bundle

Create a fixed Shopify bundle: a set of products sold as one product through Shopify's own bundles, with only the options you allow.

A fixed bundle is a set of products sold as one product: a starter kit, a gift set, a 3-pack. You choose the products and how many of each. You also choose which of their options buyers can pick, such as a colour, or leave a single value so there's nothing to choose. Shopify's own bundle system sells it.

## What Shopify handles for you

|                   |                                                                                                                |
| ----------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Product page | Your theme shows the bundle like any other product: its price, its options, its Add to cart. No theme changes. |
| Stock | A choice sells out as soon as any product in it does, so the bundle can't oversell. |
| Cart and checkout | The products are grouped under the bundle. |
| Orders | Each product appears in the order, so fulfilment, refunds and reports work per product. |
| Channels | Online Store, the Shop app and Shopify POS. |

## Create it

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Go to **Bundles → Create bundle → Fixed bundle**, name it and click **Next**. It starts as **Unlisted**, like any bundle, with no Shopify product until you save products.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
In **Build**, click **Add products** and pick the products.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
For each product, set the **quantity** in one bundle. Under each option, keep the values buyers can pick selected and click the others to switch them off. Use **⋯** to duplicate or remove a product.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Watch **Shopify limits**, the card floating over the preview. It shows how close the bundle is to each limit and which options buyers will choose from.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Save. Shopify builds the bundle product.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
In **Publish**, review the price, then set the status to **Active** when it's ready.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Options buyers choose

Every value of a product's options is offered until you switch it off. At least one value always stays on.

* **One value left** (Silver only): nothing to choose; the bundle always includes that value.
* **Two or more values** (Gold or Silver): the theme shows the option on the product page, like any product option.
* **Same option on several products**: when products share an option with the same name and the same values (Scent: Lavender or Mint), they become one choice. Picking Lavender sets every scented product.

## Shopify's limits

| Limit         | Detail                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        |
| ------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Products | Up to 30 in one bundle |
| Options | Up to 3 on the bundle; a combined option counts once |
| Variants | Up to 2,048: every combination of the options' values |
| Quantity | Up to 2,000 of one product |
| Nesting       | A product can't be a bundle itself                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            |
| Selling plans | No subscriptions, pre-orders or try-before-you-buy. For [subscriptions](/create-bundles/subscriptions.md), rebuild it as a [multi-option bundle](/create-bundles/multi-option-bundle.md), a one-to-one replacement: one option per product, a tier at a fixed bundle price for the same price |
| Editing | Once the app has set the products, only the app can change them |
| Store | The store must be able to sell Shopify bundles. If it can't, the create page shows Shopify's reason. |

The app won't send a bundle over a limit to Shopify. The save is refused with the reason instead.

## Set the price

The bundle sells at its product's own Shopify price. **Publish → Bundle price** shows it next to what the products cost together. To change it, use **Edit price in Shopify**. Later changes to the products don't overwrite a price you've set.

{% hint style="info" %}
Fixed bundles don't use tiered discounts. The price is the offer.
{% endhint %}

## "In this bundle" on the product page

An "In this bundle" section appears below Add to cart, listing each product with its image and quantity. Set it up in **Design → In this bundle**, or click the section in the preview:

| Layout          | Looks like                                          |
| --------------- | --------------------------------------------------- |
| List | One row per product |
| Grid | Image cards side by side |
| Thumbnail strip | A row of small images; fits a narrow product column |
| Collapsible     | A "What's inside" row that opens the list           |

Turn on **Show + between products** for a plus sign between them. To move the section, add the **Bundle Items** app block to your product template. The heading is in **Settings → Language & Texts**, with a translation per language; click it in the preview to jump to its field.

## Everything else works as usual

* **Upsells**: promote the bundle on other product pages from **Config → Upsell**. See [Upsells](/grow-and-manage/upsells.md).
* **Product data**: a badge on each item's image, lines above and under each item's name (such as its SKU or vendor), and your own text under the list. Hover the section in the preview and click **+**; the preview shows each item's real data. The thumbnail strip shows the lines on hover. See [Product data](/customize-and-publish/product-data.md).
* **Branding**: colours and corner radius of the section and the upsell card are in **Design → Branding**.
* **Analytics**: views, orders and revenue appear like any other bundle's.

## FAQ

### How is this different from a multi-option bundle?

A [multi-option bundle](/create-bundles/multi-option-bundle.md) is our own set with a choice per item and no Shopify variant limit. A fixed bundle is Shopify's own bundle, so it follows Shopify's limits, but it works in POS and the Shop app and the theme shows it natively.

### Can I change the products after launch?

Yes. Edit them in **Build** and save; Shopify rebuilds the bundle. The price stays as you set it.

### Why is there no Shopify product at first?

Shopify creates a bundle product only when it has products to bundle. Until your first save with products, the bundle exists in the app only, and **Edit product** stays off.
